Images and videos of Buterin, dressed in casual shorts and a t-shirt, wandering around the IT hub of Pangyo in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea were widely shared on various social media platforms on the 31st. Born in 1994, the Russian-Canadian Buterin is the developer and founder of Ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. He became the ‘youngest billionaire’ in May 2021 due to the surge in the value of Ethereum.

In the viral footage, Buterin can be seen sitting in a café in South Korea, deeply engrossed in his laptop. The netizen who initially shared the footage on social media expressed surprise, asking, “What are the odds of running into this man at a café? Why is he sitting in a café in our country?”

Another video captures Buterin walking down the street, smartphone in hand. Despite the day’s temperature ranging from a minimum of 4 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 15 degrees Celsius, Buterin was casually dressed in shorts and a t-shirt, while people around him were seen wearing coats or leather jackets.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Buterin was in South Korea to participate in blockchain-related events. He delivered a speech at the ‘ETH Seoul 2024’ event held on the 30th, and at the ‘Biddle Asia 2024’ event held on the 27th.
