Karina of K-pop girl group, AESPA, and actor Lee Jae Wook have decided to part ways after confirming their romance only five weeks ago.
Lee Jae Wook’s agency, C-JeS Studio, informed ChoSun.com on the 2nd, stating, “Actor Lee Jae Wook has decided to break up in order to focus on his current filming project.” They added, “Both have agreed to support each other as colleagues, promising to greet the public with good activities in their respective positions. We request for your warm interest and support.”
Moreover, Karina’s agency, SM Entertainment, confirmed the breakup. Thus, the couple’s brief public romance came to an end after five weeks. They had admitted their relationship on February 27th, following the release of dating rumors. At that time, both parties had asked for privacy and understanding as they were still getting to know each other.
However, some fans could not hide their shock and anger after the admission. Malicious comments were posted on the couple’s social media pages. A truck with a threatening banner appeared in front of SM Entertainment, stating, “Karina, is the love from your fans not enough for you? Why did you choose to betray your fans? If you don’t apologize, you will see declining album sales and empty concert seats.”
In response, Karina posted a handwritten letter on her Instagram in early March, apologizing to her fans. She stated, “I am sorry for surprising you,” and expressed her desire to heal the wounds her fans had received. Lee Jae Wook’s side also announced that they would respond firmly to defamatory posts online, including false facts and malicious intentions.
