A recent study has found that consuming a spoonful of apple cider vinegar daily can result in a significant weight loss of up to 8kg in three months. The research suggests that the components of vinegar can stimulate metabolism, potentially aiding in weight loss.

The study was conducted by a research team from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in Lebanon. The team investigated the effects of apple cider vinegar on 120 participants aged between 12 and 25 years. The participants were divided into four groups, with three groups receiving 5ml, 10ml, and 15ml of apple cider vinegar each morning. The remaining group was given a placebo.

At the start of the study, the average weight of the participants was 78.5kg. After 12 weeks, the group consuming 15ml of vinegar daily saw their average weight drop to 70.3kg, those taking 10ml averaged at 72.1kg, and the group taking 5ml recorded an average weight of 74kg. All three groups experienced a reduction in waist and hip circumference, as well as Body Mass Index (BMI).

The research team discovered substantial improvements in the participants’ blood glucose, triglycerides, and cholesterol levels. It appears that vinegar’s components can influence satiety and metabolism, resulting in reduced calorie intake and a decrease in fat oxidation and storage.

However, the researchers caution against excessive consumption of apple cider vinegar, which can lead to potential side effects such as enamel erosion and esophageal irritation.
